Health authorities have refuted allegations that health insurance premiums have been raised for the success of health insurance policies.

The MOHW and the NHIS recently released a statement by the Korea Enterprises Federation (KEF) explaining that "reorganization, including a cap on health insurance premiums, is a reasonable and fair result of social consensus."

The KEF said in a report that Japan and Taiwan, which have similar systems to Korea, have a higher upper limit on domestic health insurance premiums than other countries, with a gap of about 24 times and 12 times, respectively.
