Voices calling for the approval of domestic COVID-19 treatments are rising. Petitions and heated discussions are being made on the free bulletin board of the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety’s website for the marketing authorization and accelerated review of homegrown COVID-19 treatments.

The items that are receiving attention on the yay or nay of approvals are Ildong Pharmaceutical’s ‘Xocova (ensitrelvir)’ and Hyundai Bioscience’s ‘Xafty.’

Xocova was developed by Japan’s Shionogi Pharmaceutical. Ildong Pharmaceutical conducted a domestic clinical trial for the drug. The drug was unable to receive EUA in Korea last year, and the company applied for official marketing auth
