Lioresal Intrathecal can be prescribed in general hospitals

The skeletal muscle relaxant and antispastic ¡®Lioresal Intrathecal (baclofen injection)¡¯ may now be prescribed in general hospitals in Korea

According to industry sources, Novartis' Lioresal (baclofen), which will be supplied through the Korea Orphan & Essential Drug Center, has passed the Drug Committees (DCs) of tertiary hospitals including the Seoul National University Hospital and Seoul Asan Medical Center.

Lioresal was listed for reimbursement last June. It is indicated in patients with severe chronic spasticity of spinal origin (associated with injury, multiple sclerosis, or other spinal cord diseases) or of cerebral origin who are unresponsive to orally administered antispastics
