SK Chemicals has applied for emergency use approval of the Novavax COVID-19 vaccine to the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety to introduce the vaccine to Korea.

One interesting fact is that it was SK Chemicals, not SK Bioscience, that applied for the EUA. This is because the regulations for EUA require a prior record of vaccine imports. Since SK Bioscience does not have a record of vaccine imports, its parent company SK Chemicals applied for the EUA, and SK Bioscience will take charge of the domestic supply of the vaccine.

According to the pharmaceutical industry on Tuesday, SK Chemicals applied for EUA of Novavax's COVID-19 vaccine, which protects against the new variant (JN.1).
